Passionate about media and technology and considered an early trend spotter, Torsten Hoffmann is a serial media entrepreneur, award-winning filmmaker, angel investor and consultant. He is best known for his techno optimist documentaries and has spoken at some of the world's largest media events. His 2024 feature documentary about the Space Renaissance “FORTITUDE – Forging the Trillion Dollar Space Economy” (AppleTV) was premiered in the Library of Congress, Washington D.C. and was watched in and endorsed from an astronaut in the International Space Station. Torsten hosted, directed and produced his 3rd documentary in which he candidly meets policymakers from the United Nations, the U.S. State Department and the White House Technology Office, renowned experts such as astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and leading venture capitalists, established Defense companies (Northrop Grumman) as well as ambitious technology start-ups (Voyager, Planet, Astroscale). His previous documentary "CRYPTOPIA: Bitcoin, Blockchains and the Future of the Internet" (2020, Amazon) has won 16 awards at international film festivals incl. at an Academy Award qualifying event. It has been licensed by Netflix Europe and many large global TV broadcasters. His debut film about Bitcoin went viral in 2015 and introduced the topic to mainstream audiences when the BTC price was below $300. As an entrepreneurial content creator his work is largely self-funded, enabling him to retain full creative control. Torsten’s business is a niche media distributor and he previously founded a Virtual Reality group. He is a popular speaker about creative industries, the use of technology in media and the industries highlighted in his films (Space, Bitcoin, web3, Metaverse, A.I.).
