As an Strategic Investment Manager at JAPAN AIRLINES VENTURES, the Corporate Venture Capital arm of Japan Airlines in Silicon Valley, Shiro is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing strategic investments in start-ups that can drive innovation and growth for the airline industry. Shiro has a strong focus on Climate Tech (CCUS/SAF), AI and Space leveraging his domain expertise and network to identify and partner with potential disruptors and game-changers in these fields. Shiro is also a serial intrapreneur and the founder of W-PIT, a in-house Venture Studio that empowers over 200 employees at Japan Airlines (JAL) to pursue their entrepreneurial ideas and projects. Since 2016, Shiro founded W-PIT and has been leading and inspiring his team to produce impactful solutions that can transform JAL from a legacy carrier to an innovative company, and ultimately contribute to the social good. Shiro has almost 15 years of experience at JAL, where he also held various roles in IT, Joint Venture, Airline Partnership Strategy, and oneworld alliance. Shiro is currently pursuing his Executive MBA at MIT Sloan, where he aims to enhance his leadership and management skills, and expand his global perspective.
