Professor of Space Law

Professor Steve Mirmina has worked in the fields of international air and space law for more than twenty years.   Currently, he teaches a seminar on space law at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.  He has spoken widely and authored numerous articles.

Professor Mirmina also works at NASA.  In the international law group of the Office of General Counsel, he has helped negotiate more than 500 international agreements for missions ranging from human space flight and Mars exploration to Earth science missions and aeronautics research.  Additionally, Professor Mirmina is also NASA’s lead attorney for telecommunications issues. He is the recipient of numerous awards from both NASA and the White House for his work.

Before joining NASA, he was an associate in the Aviation Law practice of Crowell & Moring.  Professor Mirmina received his first LL.M. from Leiden University and his second LL.M. from Georgetown Law. He is a member of Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
