Badr Al Olama
Badr Al-Olama, a Senior Vice President for Mubadala since 2005, is the Chief Executive at Strata Manufacturing PJSC – a wholly owned advanced composite aerostructures manufacturing facility based in the city of Al Ain, the United Arab Emirates. Strata has commitments exceeding $7.5 billion to produce aircraft parts for both Airbus and Boeing, and is the first and only facility of its kind in the Middle East.
In his role with Mubadala, Mr. Al-Olama was responsible for the development of Nibras – the Al Ain Aerospace Park, a joint initiative between Mubadala and Abu Dhabi Airports Company. Nibras will be serving aerospace businesses, and will also be attracting global aerospace organizations to establish a regional presence in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and city of Al Ain. Mr. Al-Olama also led initiatives on establishing a world class pilot training center in the city of Al Ain through Horizon International Flight Academy. Prior to his tenure with Mubadala, Mr. Al-Olama was an advocate and legal consultant at Habib Al-Mulla and Company (currently Baker & McKenzie Habib Al Mulla) – a leading law firm in the UAE.
A graduate of Harvard Law School in 2005 and the College of Shari’ah and Law at the UAE University in 2002, Mr. Al-Olama has contributed to a number of seminars, panels and delegations. He has published articles addressing the legal implications relating to Aviation Accidents in Al Bayan Newspaper and Gulf News, and published his thesis on “Jurisdictional Conflicts in the Context of the Dubai International Financial Centre – The Spill-Over Effect” during his time at Harvard Law School.
Mr. Al-Olama serves as Chairman of Bidayaat, the region’s leading childcare company that aims to foster a growing generation of young children in the United Arab Emirates to become global citizens of the future, and also serves on the Board of Turbine Services & Solutions (TS &S) as well as on the board of Aerospace TS&S, the former Engine Services division of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies which has over 23 years of experience in overhauling a wide range of aircraft engines. Mr. Al-Olama is the President of the UAE Harvard Alumni Society, and a member of the Future of Manufacturing Council which is part of the Network of Global Agenda Councils created by the World Economic Forum.
